The Maryland Teacher Technology Standard III is administered to promote student safety when using technology, to differentiate instruction with the use of technology, and to create an equal opportunity for all students to have access to technology in schools. This standard also informs teachers about the correct way to incorporate technology in the classroom to address all learning styles and needs. With the rising digital generation, it is no longer questionable as to whether technology should be included in the curriculum. Twenty first century students have been part of the multimedia world since birth, making it essential for teachers to seamlessly integrate technology into their lessons in order to engage their learners. The dated materials that once defined education are now being replaced with computers, interactive whiteboards, and more. There are some risks when incorporating technology into everyday lessons in schools. There are safety concerns for students and teachers, ethical issues because students come from all different backgrounds, and legal issues. Navigate this website to find out more about these issues that have recently arisen in education.

I created this website for my EDUC 318 Computers in Education Final Exam Research Project. I believe that it is very important for teachers to understand what technology is acceptable and unacceptable to use in a classroom. Students look up to their teachers as a role model, so modeling the correct way to use technology will prove to be beneficial.
